Who we are
The Building Stage company is made up of a variety of folks (actors, designers, technicians, directors, administrative staff, and board members) brought together by the exciting possibilities of making theater in a process driven by the spirit of investigation.
The company was founded by Blake Montgomery in 2005 as a means of integrating the ideas and practices of the actor-creator of the physical theater tradition into a wider theatrical context. Since our initial production of Hamlet, our circle of collaborators has been steadily growing.
